Solutions :-

Let the first consecutive odd number be x

Second be x + 2

Third be x + 4

Fourth be x + 6

A/q

=> x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 = 40

=> 4x + 12 = 40

=> 4x = 40 - 12

=> 4x = 28

=> x = 28/4 = 7

Now,

First number = x = 7

Second number  = x + 2 = 7 + 2 = 9

Third number = x + 4 = 7 + 4 = 11

Fourth number = x + 6 = 7 + 6 = 13

Hence,

The second number in this sequence is 9
