ATQ,

X² + X = 42

X² + X - 42 = 0

X² + 7X - 6X - 42 = 0

X(X + 7) -6(X + 7)

(X - 6)(X + 7)

X = 6 , -7

SINCE IT'S A NATURAL NUMBER SO

\huge \boxed{X=6 }

Answer:

x^2+x-42=0 is the quadratic equationand value of x is 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number be x

so its square =x^

x+x^2=42

x^2+x-42=0 is the quadratic equation

x^2+7x-6x-42=0

x(x+7)-6(x+7)=0

or,x=6,-7

Since x is a natural number therefore it is not equal to -7

so value of x is 6
