The sum of a two digit number is 12. When we interchange the digits ,it is found that the resulting new number is greater than the original number by 18. What is the two digit number.​

Let the unit place be x .

& tens place = 12 - x

original number = 10 ( 12 - x ) + x

= 120 - 10x + x

= 120 - 9x

After interchanging the digit the number became

= 10x + 12 - x

= 9x + 12

according to your question,

9x + 12 = 120 - 9x + 18

Or, 9x + 9x = 120 + 18 - 12

Or, 18x = 126

Or, x = 126/18

x = 7

Hence original number = 120 - 9x = 120-9×7

= 120 - 63 = 57
