therefore, the age of the other children will be+
x+2, x+4, x+6 (given that each child is born at the interval of 2 years)
but the sum of all the years of children of equal to 52
=> x + (x+2) + (x+4) + (x+6) =52
= x+x+2+x+4+x+6= 52
= 4x + 12= 52
= 4x=40
= x=10= age of the smallest child
and hence the age of the oldest child= x+6
= 10+6 =16 years
