the sum of ages of A and B is 18 years and difference between their ages is 4 years . find the ages of A and B.

Here is the answer :-

Let the sum of ages be X + Y = 18 ---(1)

Their difference = X - Y = 4 --- (2)

According to the question:-

X + X = 18 + 4 [from 1 & 2 ]

2x = 22

x = 11

The value of X is 11

Then ,

Value of Y :-

X + Y = 18

11 + Y = 18

Y = 18 - 11

Y = 7

Age of A = X = 11 years

Age of B = Y = 7 years
