The sum of ages of Priyanka and Deepika is 34 years. Priyanka is elder to Deepika by 6 years. Then find their today's ages.

Let Priyanka's present age be x and Deepika's age be y.

According to the first condition

x + y = 34 ............( i )

According to the second condition

x = y + 6

x -y = 6 ................( ii )

Subtract equation (i ) and (ii ) we get,

x + y = 34
x -y. = 6
--------------

2y = 28

y = 28/2

y = 14

y = 14 taking equation (i ) we get

x + y = 34

x + 14 = 34

x = 34 - 14

x = 20

Therefore, Priyanka's present age is 20 years and Deepika's present age is 14 years.

x = 40 - x
2x = 40
