To find:

Find the present age of father

Solution:

Let x and y be the ages of Suresh and his father

Given that sum of their ages = 78

⇒ x + y = 78 ----(1)

After 6 years their age will be x+6 and y+6

Given that After 6 years, Father's age will be twice of Suresh's age  

⇒ (y+6) = 2(x+6)

⇒ y + 6 = 2x + 12

⇒ 2x - y = -12 -----(2)

⇒ Add (2) and (1)

⇒  x + y + 2x - y = 78 - 12

⇒ 3x = 66

⇒ x = 22

From (1) y = 78 - x

              y = 56  

Therefore, Father's age = 56
