SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The sum of AP 2, 5, 8 …. upto 50 terms

EVALUATION

Here the given arithmetic progression is

2, 5, 8 ….

First term = a = 2

Common Difference = d = 5 - 2 = 3

Number of terms = n = 50

Hence the required sum

 \sf \: = \dfrac{n}{2} [2a + (n - 1)d]

 \sf \: = \dfrac{50}{2} [2 \times 2 + (50 - 1) \times 3]

 \sf \: = 25 \times [4 + (49 \times 3)]

 \sf \: = 25 \times [4 +147]

 \sf \: = 25 \times 151

 \sf \: = 3775
