length of smaller pipe be 'y'

so, according to given condition ,

sum of two no.ie.(x+y=45)

their difference x-y=13

Explanation:

by solving the above two conditions

x+y=45

x-y=13.

2y=32

therefore y=16m (ie.length of larger pipe)

by sbstituting the x value in x-y=13

x-16=13. y=29m

therefore the length of smaller pipe be 29m
