The sum of 'n' natural (positive integer) numbers is n-k. Find the maximum value of k', assuming that it is a whole number.

Given : sum of 'n' natural (positive integer) numbers is ^nC_k

To find : maximum value of k',

Solution:

Sum on n natural positive numbers

1  + 2 + 3 + ...........................+ n

= n(n + 1)/2

= n!/2!(n-2)!

= ⁿC₂

Comparing with ^nC_k

k = 2

Value of k  is  2
