Let numerator be 'x' and denominator be 'y'.

Now,

The sum of numerator and denominator of fraction is 3 less than twice the denominator.

Therefore,

x+y=2y-3

=>x-y+3=0.........(i)

If the numerator and denominator is decreased by 1 .

Therefore,

x-1/y-1=1/2

=>2(x-1)=1(y-1)

=>2x-y-1=0.......(ii)

From (i) and (ii)

x-y+3=2x-y-1

=>x=4

equation (i)

x - y + 3 =0

putting the value of x

4 - y + 3 =0

y = 7

Therefore, the fraction =3/7
