Fraction is \frac{x}{y}

 Given x + y = 12

           x = 12-y ...........(1)

From question

\frac{x}{y+1} =\frac{7}{6}

6x = 7y+7

From equation 1

6(12-y) = 7y+7

72 - 6y = 7y +7

65 = 13 y

y = 5

So x = 12 -y = 12 - 5

    x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y=12

x+1/y+1=7/6

by cross multiplying the second eq u get

6(x+1)=7(y+1)

which gives

6x+6=7y+7

by bringing them on one side we get

6x-7y=1-----------2

in first eq multiply 6 on both sides

6(x+y) =12×6

6x+6y= 72--------1

by using subtraction method of 1&2 eq

6x+6y=72

6x-7y=1

(-) (+) (-)

------------

0x+13y=71

y=71/13

Therefore the fraction is 71/13
