Hey ^_^
Let the numerator br x and denominator be y
According to question
x + y = 18
x = 18- y
x/y+2 = 1/3
18-y /y+2 = 1/3
(18-y )3 = y+2
54 - 3y = y+2
52 = 4y
y = 13
x = 18 -13
x = 5
Therefore , the fraction is ---
✴ 5/13 ✴
✌✌ Hope this helps

Let the numerator be x and the denominator be y and the fraction be x/y
Given that the sum of numerator and denominator = 18
Therefore
x + y = 18 (equation 1)
If the denominator is increased by 2, the fraction is reduced to 1/3
i.e x/(y+2) = 1/3
3x = y + 2
3x - y = 2 (equation 2)
Adding equation 1 and 2
x + y = 18
3x - y = 2
4x = 20
x = 5
x + y = 18
5 + y = 18
y = 13
The fraction is x/y = 5/13
Given that the sum of numerator and denominator = 18
Therefore
x + y = 18 (equation 1)
If the denominator is increased by 2, the fraction is reduced to 1/3
i.e x/(y+2) = 1/3
3x = y + 2
3x - y = 2 (equation 2)
Adding equation 1 and 2
x + y = 18
3x - y = 2
4x = 20
x = 5
x + y = 18
5 + y = 18
y = 13
The fraction is x/y = 5/13
