a + b = 34

 

1/2(ab) = 120

 

a × b = 240

 

We know (a+b)² = a² + b² + 2a × b  

hypotheses² = a² + b²  

hyp² = 34² - 2 × 240  

hyp=26  

(a-b)²=a²+b²-2a×b  

= 676 - 2 × 240  

= 196

 

a-b=14

 

by solving a+b and a-b

 

We get a=24,b=10,hyp=26
