Given:

The sum of Rs. 961 is divided between x, y and z, so that for every rupee that x has, y has 20 paise and for every that y has, z has 20 paise

To find:

Share of y

Solution:

Let x has 1 rupee or 100 paise

So, y will have 20 paise

The ratio between the share of x and y= 100: 20

Let y has 1 rupee or 100 paise

So, z will have 20 paise

The ratio between the share of y and z= 100:20

Now, on equalising both the ratios, we get:

x:y:z= 500:100:20 or 25:5:1

The share of y= (5/31)*961 = Rs. 155

The share of y is Rs 155.

Given :   The sum of Rs. 961 is divided between x, y and z, so that for every rupee that x has, y has 20 paise and for every that y has, z has 20 paise.

To Find : share of y

Solution:

1 Rs = 100 Paise

Let say  Z   has   20K  Paise

Then Y has    100K Paise

if Y has 20 Paise then  X has 100 Paise

=> if Y has 1 Paise then  X has 100/20 = 5 Paise

as Y has  100K Paise  then X has 5 * 100K = 500K paise

X = 500K Paise

Y = 100K Paise

Z = 20K Paise

Total = 500K + 100K + 20K  = 620K  Paise

620K  =  961 * 100

=> K = 155

X = 500*155 Paise  =  775 Rs

Y = 100K*155  Paise  = 155 Rs

Z = 20K*155 Paise  =  31 Rs

share of y is  Rs 155
