Answer:

56+(4+4) ages of both

=64

x = son

3x=father

x+3x= 64

4x=64

x=64÷4

x=16= age of son after 4 years

16-4=12(present age of son)

father age = 3×16=48

48-4=44(present age of father)

son=12

father=44

sum =44+12

=56

Given:

  • The sum of tge ages of a son is 56 years.
  • After four years‚the age of father will be three times‚

To Find:

  • Present Ages

Solution:

Let the age of father be x

Age of son = (56 - x)

After four years,

  • Age of father = (x + 4)
  • Age of son = (56 - x + 4)

According to Question,

➞ (56 - x + 4) = 3 (x + 4)

➞ 56 - x - 3x - 12 + 4 = 0

➞ 4x = 56 - 8

➞ 4x = 48

➞ x = 48/4

➞ x = 12 years.

Hence,

  • Father's age = 12 years
  • Son's age = 56 - 12 = 44 years
