The sum of the adjacent angles formed by a ray standing on a straight line is equal to  right angles.

  • When a ray stands on a line, two adjacent angles get formed.
  • We know that the angle of a straight line is 180°.
  • When a ray stands on a straight line, it divides the angle of a straight line equally.
  • Or the ray stands on the straight line is a perpendicular line.
  • Thus, the two adjacent angles are right angles.
  • So, the total angle  = 90° + 90°, two right angles.

 \underline{\pink{ Axiom :}}

If a ray stands on a straight line, then the sum of the two adjacent angles so formed is 180° i.e.,

two right angles.

Here, in the figure ,

<1 and <2 are two two adjacent angles formed by a ray standing on a straight line.

we know that,

Sum of two adjacent angles is 180° or two right angles.
