The sum of the age of mira and shaheena is 40 years after 10 years mira will be twice as old as shaheena find their present ages

Let Mira's present age be x and Shabeena's age be y
After 10 years, Mira's age = x + 10 years and Shabeena's age = y + 10 years

According to the question given,
x + y = 40 .............(i)
x + 10 = 2( y + 10)  
=>x + 10 = 2y + 20
=> x - 2y = 10 ............(ii)

Solving equation (i) and (ii),
3y = 30
y = 10

Putting the value of y = 10 in equation (i) we get,
x = 30 years

Hence, the present age of Mira is 30 years and Shabeena's is 10 years

x = 40 - y

after 10 yrs
the age of mira will be x+10
the age of shaheena will be y+10

so. x + 10 = 2(y+10)

40 - y + 10 = 2y + 20

30 = 3y
y = 30/3
y = 10(age of mira)

x + y = 40
