Let Shyam's age be 'x' years and Ram's age be 'y' years.

According to 1st condition,

y + x = 36

:. x + y = 36 >> (i)

According to 2nd condition,

y = x + 10

y - x = 10

:. - x + y = 10 >> (ii)

Adding eqn (i) and (ii)

x + y = 36

- x + y = 10

2y = 46

y = 46

:. y = 23 years.

Subs y = 23 in (i)

i.e. x + y = 36

x + 23 = 36

x = 36 - 23

:. x = 13 years.

Hence, Shyam' s age is 13 years.
