Step-by-step explanation:

given,

sum of the areas of two squares = 850 square metre

difference of their perimeters= 40m

We know that,

perimeter= 4s

let the smaller side be x m

then the the larger side= 40/4=10

= (x+10)m

the their areas,

x^2+(x+10)^2= 850

x^2+x^2+20x+100= 850

2x^2+ 20x-750

now,divide the equation with 2

x^2+10x-375=0

x^2+25x-15x-375=0

x(x+25)-15(x+25)=0

(x+25)(x-15)=0

then, x= -15 or 25

when we take positive measurements,

smaller side= 15

bigger side=25

hope you may understand✌✌
