Step-by-step explanation:

Let digit in ones place be x

digit in tens place = (14-x)

the original digit = 10(14-x)+x

= 140-10x+x

= 140-9x

new number = 10x +(14-x)

= 10x + 14 - x

= 9x + 14

Equation :

=> (140-9x) - (9x+14) = 18

=> 140 - 9x - 9x - 14 = 18

=> 140 - 14 - 9x - 9x = 18

=> 126 - 18x = 18

=> -18x = 18-126

=> - 18x = -108

=> x = -108/-18

=> x = 6

digit in ones place = 6

digit in tens place = 14-6 = 8

original number = 10 × 8 + 6

= 80 + 6

= 86

Verification : reverse number is 68

68 + 18 = 86
