x+y=3. -eq1
Considering the place value of the nos.,
10x+y-9=10y+x
9x-9=9y
9(x-1)=9y. Cancelling 9 on both sides
x-1=y. -eq2
Substituting eq2 in eq1,
x+x-1=3
2x=4
x=2
Hence y=1
