Solution :-

Let ,

the tens and ones digit of two digit number be x and y respectively

Then,

the number formed will be = 10 x + y

On reversing the digits number will become 10 y + x

Now, As given

→ sum of digits = 6

→ x + y = 6

→ x = 6 - y  .... eqn (1)

And,

→ 10 x + y - (10 y + x) = 18

→ 10 x + y - 10 y - x = 18

→ 9 x - 9 y = 18

→ x - y = 2

using eqn (1)

→ 6 - y - y  = 2

→ 6  -2 y = 2

→ 2 y = 6 - 2

→ 2 y = 4

→ y = 2

putting value of y in eqn (1)

→ x = 6 - y

→ x = 6 - 2

→ x = 4

Therefore,

the number will be

→ 10 x + y

→ 10 (4) + 2

→ 40 + 2

→ 42   \sf

Hence ,

  • the number is 42
