ATQ,

x+y=12........then x=12-y

again ATQ,

x+1/y+1=3/4

by cross multiplication'we get

4x+4=3y+3

4(12-y)-3y=-1

48-4y-3y=-1

48-7y=-1

49=7y

49/7=y

hence,y=7 nd x=5

thus required fraction is5/7
