Let ,

Numerator = x

Denominator = y

Fraction = x/y

$x + y = 12.........(1) \\ \\ \frac{x}{y + 3} = > \frac{1}{2} \\ \\ 2x = > y + 3 \\ \\ 2x - y = 3.............(2)$

By elimination method ....

$x + y = 12 ..... \times (2)\\ 2x - y = 3 \\ - - - - - - \\ \\ 2x + 2y = 24 \\ 2x - y = 3 \\ - - - - - - \\ - \: \: \: + \: \: \: - \\ - - - - - - \\ 3y = > 21 \\ \\ y = > \frac{21}{3} \\ \\ \boxed{y = > 7} \\ \\ put \: y \: in \: (1) \\ \\ x + y = 12 \\ \\ x + 7 = 12 \\ \\ x = 12 - 7 \\ \\ \boxed{x = > 5}$
