Hi there !
Here's the answer:

¶¶¶ SOLUTION:
Let present Age of father be x
& present Age of son = 9 - x
(°•° Given, Sum of their ages = 9)

Time difference between the two ages
= x - (99 - x) = 2x - 99

When the father was 2x-99 years younger he had the present age of his son i.e., 99 - x

Age of the son in the past = (99 - x) - (2x-99) = 198 - 3x

This age of the son was a quarter of the age of his father:
(99-x) = 4(198-3x)
=> 99-x = 792-12x
=> 12x-x = 792-99
=> 11x = 693
=> x = 63
