Case 2

7% × X = 8% × Y

X = 8Y/7.

Putting the value of X in equation (1), we get

8Y/7 + Y = 240

(8Y + 7Y)/7 = 240

15Y = 240 × 7

Y = (240 × 7)/15

Y = 112

And

X = 8Y/7 = (8 × 112)/7

X = 8 × 16 = 128

Answer.
The two numbers are 112 and 128
