Given :

The sum of three consecutive integers is 48

To find :

Find the numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let three consecutive integers are x - 1 , x , x + 1

It is given that sum of three consecutive integers is 48

By the given condition

\displaystyle \sf{(x - 1) + x + (x + 1 )  = 48}

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the numbers

\displaystyle \sf{(x - 1) + x + (x + 1 )  = 48}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 3x = 48}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{48}{3} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x = 16}

First number = x - 1 = 16 - 1 = 15

Second number = x = 16

Third number = x + 1 = 16 + 1 = 17

Hence three consecutive integers are 15 , 16 , 17
