Given :-

  • The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 57.

To find :-

  • What are the numbers.

Solution :-

Given :

  • The sum of three Consecutive odd numbers = 57

Let,

  • The numbers = x, x+2 and x+4

According to the question by substituting these values we get,

 \implies   \: \sf \: x  \: + \:   x + 2 \: +  \: x + 4 \: = \:  57

 \implies   \: \sf \: 3x + 6 \: = \:  57

 \implies   \: \sf  \:3x  \: = \:  57 - 6

 \implies   \: \sf  \:3x  \: = \:  51

 \displaystyle \implies   \: \sf  \:x  \: = \:   \cancel\frac{51}{3}

 \displaystyle \implies   \red{ \: \bf  \:x  \: = \:   17}

Now

  • First number = x = 17
  • Second number = x+2 = 17+2 = 19
  • Third number = x+4 = 17+4 = 21

Hence, The sum of three Consecutive odd numbers is 17, 19 and 21 .
