Answer:

First odd number = 31.

Second odd number = 33.

Third odd number = 35.

Given:

Sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 68 more than the first number.

To find:

What are the numbers?

Solution:

Let the first odd number be x.

Second odd number = x+2

Third odd number = x+2+2 = x+4

Now, Sum of these numbers = 68 more than the first number.

=> x+x+2+x+4 = x+68

=> 3x+6 = x+68

=> 3x-x = 68-6

=> 2x = 62

=> x = 62/2

=> x = 31.

Now, First number = x = 31.

Second number = x+2 = 31+2 = 33.

And third number = x+4 = 31+4 = 35.

Verification:

Sum of these numbers = 68+ first number

=> 31+33+35 = 68+31

=> 99 = 99

Here, LHS = RHS.

Hence, verified.
