let the 1st even no be x

2nd consecutive even no will be x+2  ( because the sum of two even nos is an even no  )

according to the question,

x+x+2=74

2x+2=74

2x=74-2

2x=72

x= 36

hence even no = 36

consecutive even no = x+2 = 36+2=38

hence the nos are 36 and 38
