let x = the first even numberlet (x + 2) = the second even number.their sum must be 38 ∴x + (x + 2) = 38 by simplification we get 2x + 2 = 38 subtracting 2 from each side of the equation we will get 2x = 36
dividing each side of the equation by 2 we will get x = 18 so one number is 18 and another number is 18 + 2 = 20
dividing each side of the equation by 2 we will get x = 18 so one number is 18 and another number is 18 + 2 = 20

let the consecutive even nos are 2X and 2X+2
so 2X+2X+2=38
or,4X+2 = 38
X=9
So the nos are 2*9=18 and 18+2= 20
so 2X+2X+2=38
or,4X+2 = 38
X=9
So the nos are 2*9=18 and 18+2= 20
