x(x+2) = 74
2x + 2 = 74(x multiplied by x = 2x)
2x = 74-2
2x  = 72
x     = 72 divide by 2
      = 36

therefore x = 36 and x + 2 = 36+2=38
the no. are 36 and 38

2x=74-2=72.
x=72/2.
So x=36.
Therefore x+2= 36+2=38.
So the numbers are 36 and 38.
