The numbers are 10 , 11

Given :

The sum of two consecutive integers is 21

To find :

Find the numbers

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let two consecutive integers are x , x + 1

By the given condition

\displaystyle \sf{ x + (x + 1) = 21}

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the numbers

\displaystyle \sf{ x + (x + 1)   = 21}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x + 1 = 21}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x = 21 - 1}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies 2x = 20}

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x =  \frac{20}{2} }

\displaystyle \sf{ \implies x = 10}

First number = x = 10

Second number = x + 1 = 10 + 1 = 11

Hence two integers are 10 and 11
