Let the two consecutive numbers be x and x+1.

According to question,

x + x + 1 = 17
={ 2x + 1 = 17
=> 2x = 17 - 1
=> 2x = 16
=> x = 16/2
=> x = 8
and,
x + 1 = 8 + 1
x + 1 = 9

Two Consecutive numbers are 8 and 9.
