let one number be x
let the next consecutive number be x + 1
x + (x + 1) = 68
x + x + 1 = 68
2x + 1 = 68
2x = 67
x = 33.5 so x + 1 = 34.5
33.5 + 34.5 = 68
33.5 and 34.5 are not integers
note: 33 + 34 = 67 and 34 + 35 = 69
there is not 2 consecutive integers that add to 68

1st consecutive odd number = x +1
2nd consecutive odd number = x + 3
sum of two consecutive numbers = 68
x + 1 + x + 3 = 68
2x + 4 = 68
2x = 68 - 4
2x = 64
x = 64 / 2
x = 32
1st consecutive number = x + 1 = 32 + 1 =33
2nd consecutive number = x + 3 = 32 + 3 = 35
