Let two forces be A & B, and the resultant be P.

A + B = 16

P2 = B2 – A2 = (B – A)(B + A)  = 16(B – A)

(B - A) = P2/16 = 4

B – A = 16

B + A = 4

2B = 12

B = 6N

A = 10N
