let the second number be y

then

x+y=203-----------1 equation

x-y=10---------------2 equation

add the  the equation 1 and 2

so

x+y=203

x-y+10

2x=213

then x= 213/2=106.5

in the equation 1 substitute x value

106.5+y=203

y=97.5

x+y=203 (equation 1) and x_y= 10 (eq2) adding ( equation 1and 2) we get 2y=193 and y= 96.50 putting y= 96.50 in eq 1 we get the value of x = 106.50
