The sum of two numbers I 38 when 8 added to twice one of the numbers the result is 5 times other the other number find the number
Answers
Step-by-step explanation:
F=first number; S=second number
.
F+S=38
S=38-F . Use this to substitute for S below.
.
2F+8=5S . Substitute for S from above.
2F+8=5(38-F)
2F+8=190-5F
7F=182
F=26
ANSWER 1: The first number is 26.
.
S=38-F=38-26=12
ANSWER 2: The second number is 12.
.
CHECK:
2F+8=5S
2(26)+8=5(12)
52+8=60
60=60

Question:-
The sum of two numbers is 38 when 8 added to twice one of the numbers the result is 5 times other the other number find the number.
Solution:-
Given :-
a) The sum of two numbers is 38
b) 8 added to twice one of the numbers, the result is 5 times the other number
let, two numbers be x and y
by question
=> x + y = 38 ...... ( 1 )
=> 2x + 8 = 5y ...... ( 2 )
From ( 1 )
=> x = 38 - y ...... ( 3 )
now put, value of x in equation ( 2 ).
=> 2x + 8 = 5y
=> 2( 38 - y ) + 8 = 5y
=> 76 - 2y + 8 = 5y
=> 84 - 2y = 5y
=> - 2y - 5y = - 84
=> - 7y = - 84
=> 7y = 84
=> y = 84/7
=> y = 12
put value of y in equation ( 1 )
=> x + y = 38
=> x + 12 = 38
=> x = 38 - 12
=> x = 26
Hence two numbers are
x = 26 and y = 12.
i hope it helps you.
