 {\underline  {\rm {Solution:}}}

  • Let the number 1st be x
  • And the 2nd number be x + 17

Substituting the values in the expression,

= x + (x + 17) = 105

= 2x + 17 = 105

= 2x =\dfrac {105}{7}

= 2x = 15

= x = \dfrac {15}{2}

= x = 7.5

The numbers are :

• 1st number

= x = 7.5

• 2nd number

= x + 17
