❍ Given :-

  • Sum of two numbers is 11

❍ To Find :-

✏ Condition :-

  • Find the numbers if 2 times one of these numbers exceeds three times the other number by 2.

❍ Solution :-

Let one number of x and other be y.

\mathtt {→x + y = 11}

\mathtt {→y = 11 - x} → Equation 1

✏ Equation according to condition,

\mathtt {→2x = 3y + 2} → Equation 2

➸ As we got value of y, we will put value of y in this equation,

\mathtt {→2x = 3(11 - x) + 2}

\mathtt {→2x = 33 - 3x + 2}

\mathtt {→3x + 2x = 33 + 2}

\mathtt {→5x = 35}

\mathtt {→x = \frac{35}{5}}

→\boxed{\mathtt{x = 7}}

✏ First number is 7.

Putting value of x in equation 1,

→\mathtt{y = 11 - x}

→\mathtt{y = 11 - 7}

→\boxed{\mathtt{y = 4}}

✏ Second number is 4.

Therefore, the two numbers are 7 and 4 respectively.
