the sum of two numbers is 12 ,and their product is 35 what are the no.

Let one of the numbers be x .

Then The other number = (12 - x)

A/Q ,

x × (12 - x) = 35

On solving , we get an equation ,

x^2 - 12x + 35 = 0

i.e. x^2 - 7x - 5x + 35 = 0

=> x ( x - 7 ) - 5 ( x - 7 ) = 0

=> ( x - 7 ) ( x - 5 ) = 0

Therefore , x = 7 or 5

The 2nd number = 12 - 7 or 12 - 5 = 5 or 7

Hence , the required numbers are 7 and 5 .
