Let the numbers be x and y.
Acc. to the 1st condition;
x+y=131----(i)
Acc. to the 2nd condition;
2x=y-5
therefore'
2x-y=-5-----(ii)
Adding (i) and (ii);
x+y=131
2x-y=-5
-----------
3x=126
x=42
Substituting the value of x in (i);
x+y=131
42+y=131
y=131-42
y=89
Therefore, the two numbers are 42 and 89.
