Ie every where I see x in equation 2,I replace it by x = 14 – y

=> (14 – y) – y = 6

=> 14 – y – y = 6

=> 14 – 2y = 6

=> -2y = 6 – 14

Now we decide both sides of the equal sign by negative two (-2)

=> (-2y)/(-2) = (-4)/(-2)

=> y = 4

let y = 4 be equation 4

Substitute equation 4 into equation 3

=> x = 14 – y

=> x = 14 – 4

=> x = 10
