x/3-(184-x)/7=8

Let the numbers be x and y .

According to Question ,

x + y = 184

=> x = 184 - y ---->(1)

And

(1/3)×x =( 1/7 )×y + 8

=> x/3 = y/7 +8

=> x/3 - y/7 = 8

=> 7x - 3y/21 = 8

=> 7x - 3y = 168

By (1) we have

=> 7 ( 184 - y ) -3y = 168

=> 7×184 - 7y - 3y = 168

=> -10y = 168 - 1288

=> -10y = - 1120

=> y = 112

So

x = 184 - 112

=> x = 72

Therefore , the smaller number is 72 and large one is 112
