Let the first number be x.
So, other number = x+9
According to the question
x +x+9=2.5
2x=2.5-9
2x= -6.5
x = -6.5/2
x = -3.25
First number = x =3.25
Other number = x = x+9 = -3.25+9 = 5.75
So, other number = x+9
