Answer:

Let the two numbers be x and y

Sum of two numbers is 26

x + y = 26 ---> 1

Difference of two numbers is 2

x - y = 2 ---> 2

Subtract 2 from 1

x + y = 26

x - y = 2

- + -

________

2y = 24

y = 24/2

y = 12

Substitute y = 12 in equation 1

x + y = 26

x + 12 = 26

x = 26 - 12

x = 14

Hence the two numbers are x = 14 , y = 12

Verification :

x + y = 26

14 + 12 = 26

26 = 26

x - y = 2

14 - 12 = 2

2 = 2

Hence, Verified ✔️

Let x=the large no.

Let y=the large no.

x+y=26

y - x =2

y=x+2

x+x+2=26

2x=24

x=12

y=12+2=14

therefore x=12, y,=14
