Given that

x +  \frac{1}{3}  =  \frac{5}{9}

Then

x =  \frac{5}{9}  -  \frac{1}{3}

The L.C.M of 9 , 3 = 9

x =  \frac{5 - 3}{9}

Therefore

x =  \frac{2}{9}
