Sum of two numbers is 54

Let the greater number be 'x'

then, the smaller be 'x-6'

Now, according to the question

x + x - 6 = 54

x + x = 54 + 6

2x = 60

x = 30

By substituting value of 'x'

Greater number = 30

Smaller number = x - 6

= 30 - 6

= 24

Therefore, the numbers are 30 and 24 respectively
