Given :

  • The sum of two number is 70.
  • Their difference is 16.

To find :

  • The numbers.

According to the question,

Let,

The number be x & other number be y

➞ x + y = 70 ------ (i)

➞ x - y = 16 ------ (ii)

From equation (i),

➞ x + y = 70

➞ x = 70 - y

Putting the value of 'x' in equation (ii),

➞ x - y = 16

➞ 70 - y - y = 16

➞ - 2y = 16 - 70

➞ - 2y = - 54

➞ y = 54 ÷ 2

y = 27

Now,

Putting the value of 'y' in equation (i),

➞ x + y = 70

➞ x + 27 = 70

➞ x = 70 - 27

x = 43

  • Hence, the one number is 27 and other number is 43.

Given :-

  • The sum of two numbers is 70
  • Their difference is 16

To find :-

  • Find the given numbers

Let's Do :-

Let the numbers be X and Y.

According to the question

x + y = 70_ _ _ _ _ (1)

x - y = 16_ _ _ _ _ (2)

( 1 ) - ( 2 )

x + y - (x - y) = 70 - 16

x + y - x + y = 54

2y = 54

y = 54/2 = 27

From 1

x + y = 70

x + 27 = 70

x = 70 - 27

x = 43
